How to Find the Right EverStart Powersport Battery
Powersport batteries don’t use car group sizes. Match the code, and the letters, exactly.
- Read the old batteryThe code is on the top or front label, like TX14L, 12BS or YTX20L. Write down every letter.
- Check the manualYour owner’s manual lists the battery code too. Use it if the old label is worn off.
- Confirm the terminalsA TX14 and a TX14L are the same size with the posts swapped. The wrong one leaves your cables short.

Every EverStart powersport battery we track is AGM, and several are sold as Platinum AGM PowerSport. That matters on a bike or quad for three reasons:
- Sealed, so it won’t spill on a leaning bike or a tipped ATV
- Packed plates hold up to engine and trail vibration
- Holds charge better between rides than older flooded types
What BS Means on a Battery Code
Codes like 12BS, 9BS and 20LBS end in BS. On many powersport batteries that means the acid comes in a separate pack you add before the first charge.
Check the box when it arrives. If there’s an acid pack, follow the fill steps exactly, let it sit as directed, then give it a full charge before you install it. Don’t add acid to a battery that came sealed.
Winter Storage for Motorcycle and ATV Batteries
Small batteries go flat fast. Clocks, alarms and ECUs keep drawing a little power, and a few months parked can take a powersport battery all the way down. A flat battery can also freeze.
Charge it fully before you park for the season, then either keep it on a low-amp maintainer or pull it and store it somewhere cool and dry. Check the maintainer’s manual says it suits small powersport batteries.

What does the L mean in an EverStart powersport battery code?
It means the terminals are reversed compared with the version without the L. Same case size, posts on opposite sides.
Can I use a battery with more CCA than my bike needs?
Yes, as long as the code, size and terminal layout match. Extra cranking amps won’t hurt the starter.
Will an EverStart powersport battery fit my jet ski?
If the code matches the one in your PWC manual, yes. Sealed AGM batteries are a good match for watercraft because they won’t spill.
Can I charge a motorcycle battery with a car charger?
Only if the charger has a low-amp or small-battery setting. A high-amp car setting can overheat a small battery. A maintainer is the safer choice.
Is there a warranty on EverStart powersport batteries?
The powersport listings we checked didn’t spell out the warranty term. Look at the warranty section of the listing for your model before you buy.
