Replacement Battery for EverStart AGM-H6 and AGM-H4
Older EverStart AGM batteries carry codes like AGM-H6 or AGMH4 on the label. The H number is the European case size, so the replacement is today’s Platinum AGM in the same H size.
Check that the posts sit on the same sides and the hold-down fits. If the old label shows a different code, look it up in our EverStart battery finder.
| Old label says | Current replacement | CCA / reserve |
|---|---|---|
| AGM-H4 or AGMH4 | Platinum AGM H4 / 140R | 540 / 80 min |
| AGM-H5 | Platinum AGM H5 / 47 | 640 / 100 min |
| AGM-H6 or AGMH6 | Platinum AGM H6 / LN3 / 48 | 760 / 120 min |
| AGM-H7 | Platinum AGM H7 / LN4 / 94R | 850 / 140 min |

What Is an AGM Battery?
AGM stands for absorbent glass mat. In a regular flooded battery the lead plates sit in liquid acid. In an AGM battery the acid is soaked into thin glass fiber mats packed tight between the plates, and the case is sealed.
That one change is why AGM batteries can be mounted inside the car, survive constant start-stop cycling and cost more to make.
| Flooded (Maxx) | AGM (Platinum) | |
|---|---|---|
| Electrolyte | Free liquid | Held in glass mats |
| Spill-proof | No | Yes |
| Start-stop | Not suited | Built for it |
| Recharge speed | Normal | Faster |
| Vibration | Plates can shed | Plates held firm |
| Charger setting | Standard | AGM |
| Free replacement | 3 years | 4 years |

EverStart Platinum AGM FAQ
Is the EverStart Platinum AGM battery worth it?
If your car needs AGM, yes. It has the longest EverStart warranty, and Consumer Reports gave the H5/47 top scores for battery life and reserve capacity. In a car built for flooded batteries, Maxx is the better value.
What is the EverStart Platinum battery warranty?
Walmart lists a 4-year free replacement on Platinum AGM car batteries, starting the day you buy. Check the listing for your size, since the H5 didn’t show it when we checked.
Can I put an AGM battery in a car that came with a regular battery?
Yes, as long as the group size matches. You get better cycling and a longer warranty. The reverse swap, flooded into an AGM car, isn’t recommended.
Does an AGM battery need a special charger?
It needs a charger with an AGM setting, which most modern smart chargers have. Older manual chargers can overcharge an AGM battery.
Who makes the EverStart Platinum AGM?
Walmart doesn’t say. Owners on car forums report EverStart batteries built by Clarios, the former Johnson Controls battery business, and by East Penn, depending on the size and region.
