Walmart free replacement
EverStart Battery Warranty
Every EverStart battery warranty is a free replacement period that starts on the day you buy. If the battery fails inside that window, Walmart replaces it. How long you’re covered depends on the line: Value 1 year, Plus 2 years, Maxx 3 years and Platinum AGM 4 years.

How to Make an EverStart Battery Warranty Claim
Most claims take one trip to the store. Call ahead to check Auto Care hours.
- Bring the batteryTake it to a Walmart with an Auto Care Center during service hours.
- Bring proof of purchaseYour receipt or Walmart.com order. Keep the battery’s top label and barcode intact.
- Let them test itThe store checks the battery. A battery that passes may not qualify.
- Get your replacementInside the free replacement period, a failed battery is swapped at no cost.
- Keep the new paperworkAsk how the warranty carries over on the replacement and keep the new receipt.
When a Claim Goes Smoothly
- You’re inside the free replacement period
- The battery fails the store’s test
- You have the receipt, or the store can find the purchase
- The label and barcode are still readable
When It May Be Turned Down
The battery tests good. SlashGear reported a Reddit case where a claim was refused because the battery wasn’t fully dead. If you think it’s weak, charge it fully first and ask for a load test.
The window has closed. The period counts from the purchase date, not the install date.
No proof of purchase can be found. See the next section.
Receipts, Returns and Core Charges
The three questions people ask most at the Auto Care counter.
Warranty without a receipt
A receipt makes it simple. Without one, owners report the store may go by the barcode or date sticker on the battery, or look up the purchase on your Walmart account. Online orders show in your Walmart.com history.
Return policy and core charge
Walmart adds a core fee when you buy a car battery and refunds it when you bring the old one back. For online orders, the refund comes as a Walmart gift card after you return the old battery to a store.
Free replacement vs prorated
Free replacement means a failed battery is swapped at no cost. A prorated warranty only gives partial credit that shrinks over time. The EverStart listings we checked describe free replacement periods only.
Walmart EverStart Warranty Experiences
What owners say happened when they made a claim. Your store may differ.
His EverStart failed after about 4 months. Walmart swapped it at the counter without a test, and the barcode on the battery stood in for a receipt.
A Platinum AGM bought online took over a month of back and forth to settle under warranty. He now suggests buying in store.
Says Walmart honors battery warranties without much trouble and is the easiest place he has dealt with.
